Seoraksan continued.
Here are some pics from the Shinhungsa Temple. This was a truly beautiful site and I have so many photos from this afternoon that it's hard for me to decide which ones to post! I loved the milky white bridges against the backdrop of the green pines, the gray of the river stones, and the shadow of the mountains. The temple buildings were extremely colorful and had beautiful panels painted on their outer walls. These buildings have sustained several invasions and much rebuilding, especially due to the Korean War. The area of Seoraksan was used for battles during the Korean War, and Ara says they still find human remains from that fighting today. The monks were in meditation while we were there, so we didn't see them. We did get to enter a meditation chapel though (but no pictures were allowed).
