Paul and Aubrey's anniversary dinner.

This past week and a half we've had the privilege of sharing Korea with Paul's parents, Howard and Mary Beth. Though the Korean summer rain has been constant, we've managed to show them most of our favorite sites in Sokcho. They left this evening, so I've only just finished downloading the pictures from their visit (Paul and Howard dominated our computer room the bulk of their stay!). We've had a great time with them, and I will begin by sharing our night out to dinner (last night).

On Monday Paul and I made it 2 years married! This month has been busy, so to tell the truth, the date rather crept up on us! Luckily, with Howard and MB in town, we could celebrate our anniversary (and their last evening in Sokcho) as a family. As a special treat, they made reservations for dinner at the Kensington Stars Hotel, which is right outside of Seoraksan National Park. The Kensington is a very elegant and posh hotel in this area, and has a western restaurant (called "The Queen") inside. We were about the only ones there! They showed us into a small private dining room, with a window overlooking the golf grounds--lovely.

We were surprised to find that they actually had quite an extensive menu. (This food isn't Korean--it's the type you'd expect to find in a fancy restaurant downtown). Everyone ordered beef entrees except for me--I had the lamb chops (with herb sauce), which were exquisite. We also had escargot in garlic butter, pumpkin soup, salad, garlic toast, french wine, coffee, and fruit and cheesecake for dessert! The food was quite delicious and for a couple hours I forgot we were in Korea!

Thank you for a memorable dinner, Mom and Dad! It's been so much fun having you visit Sokcho!
