Chi Hyun and Min Young's last day.
Chi Hyun, Min Young, Kirsty, and Ara in the teacher's roomToday AP bid adieu to two fine ladies, Chi Hyun and Min Young. Chi Hyun was one of the Korean English teachers at AP, and Min Young is her daughter. I was lucky to have her in two of my classes--Sounds Fun 3 and After class. They are moving to Padu, which is a suburb of Seoul. They have to relocate due to Chi Hyun's husband's job. Chi Hyun's other daughter, Hae In (also a student at AP), is also leaving.
I have had Min Young as a student ever since we first got to Korea. She is always bright, cheerful, and an enthusiastic learner. She's quite creative and is always smiling, and was a big help in After class when the younger kids either didn't understand me or were misbehaving. I could count on her to be my little enforcer :)
Chi Hyun is a very patient woman, and also eager to speak in English when some of the other teachers prefer to use Korean in the teacher's room. She has always shown interest in learning new English jargon from us, and in teaching us about Korean sayings. Like Min Young, she loves to laugh and has been very helpful when I've had frustrations with certain students.
They've accompanied us on many outings, from restaurant get-togethers, to barbeques, to visiting a Buddhist temple on our last day off. It won't be the same at AP without their sunny faces, but we wish them well in their new city! We'll miss you guys!
